The holidays are coming (in the US, they’re very nearly here!) and the inevitable buzz surrounding Black Friday sales is ramping up. With massive discounts and 'Unmissable deals!' filling our inboxes and social media feeds, it’s one of the biggest shopping events of the year.
But it’s one that we at Snap Dragon Guitars will never take part in it.
Every year, we get asked if we’re offering Black Friday deals, or January sales. And every time we give the same answer: no. The reason being is that we believe in doing business differently, and here's how…
- Quality Over Quantity
At Snap Dragon, we prioritise providing quality products that last rather than succumbing to the pressure of offering steep discounts on items that are built to sell quickly and in large quantities. We don’t want to be part of a cycle where products are devalued for the sake of one day of frenzied sales.
Black Friday is a race to the bottom. Companies slash prices to compete for attention and as a small business we just can’t compete. Our products would get lost in that frenzy. So instead of discounting our products heavily for one day, we focus on ensuring our instruments meet the highest standards and are priced fairly all year round.
Most products you see for sale on black Friday aren't the bargains they appear to be, but our customers can buy a Snap Dragon at any time of year, safe in the knowledge that when they shop with us, they’re investing in something built to last that isn't going to be available for half the price two months down the line.
- Supporting Sustainable Practices
Black Friday often leads to overproduction, over consumption, and excessive waste. The environmental impact of mass consumerism is a growing concern, and we believe that companies have a responsibility to minimise their ecological footprint. Flash sales and discount events like Black Friday contribute to a culture where products are bought without consideration of their long-term environmental impact.
